Undine lucrează în Berlin ca istoric și ghid, viața ei în orașul modern ascunde un secret ce are la bază un mit străvechi: dacă omul pe care îl iubește o trădează, trebuie să îl ucidă și să se întoarcă în apele din care se trage. Atunci când iubitul ei Johannes o părăsește pentru o altă femeie, Undine crede că nu are de ales, până când îl întâlnește pe Christoph, un scafandru industrial, de care se îndrăgostește în mod neașteptat.

Undine works as a historian and city guide in Berlin, but her life hides a secret based on an ancient myth: if the man she loves betrays her, she has to kill him and return to the water.
